The final trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron promises more of everything we’ve grown to love about Marvel. More stunning landscapes, more sentient robots destroying cities, more people running and screaming…
Featured initially in the mid-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier as prisoners of Hydra, the now-free Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) appear more in this trailer. But it’s still unclear whether they’re working with or working against the Avengers – they could be doing both.
And finally we get a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of Vision (at 2:02, just after the title), albeit as a tight close-up. While confirmed in February last year that Paul Bettany would be playing the character of Vision in the upcoming Avengers film, Marvel has kept his appearance a closely guarded secret. Bettany is not named on the already ensemble cast-heavy official poster, and he’s only featured as a shadowy blur.
In the accidental leak of the first trailer (“Dammit, Hydra!”), Ultron delivered an eerie rendition of I’ve Got No Strings from Disney‘s Pinocchio. Things looked pretty dark and bleak in the second trailer with Nick Fury plainly stating: “No matter who wins or loses, trouble always comes around.” It’s certainly a marketing feat that Marvel have managed to reveal the best six minutes over three trailers of Avengers: Age of Ultron without actually giving away anything of the plot.
