When you play the game of thrones, you win or you go directly to jail.
Do not pass Go. Do not collect 200 Gold Dragons.
Teased via Twitter, HBO‘s announcement of the official Game of Thrones edition of Monopoly will delight Game of Thrones and board game enthusiasts everywhere. With no new A Song of Ice and Fire book out this year and Season 5 of the HBO TV series airing in April, this may be soothing salve to calm frayed nerves.

The themed Monopoly game, now enticingly listed on the HBO Store’s website, will allow players to “buy, sell and trade their way to sit atop the Iron Throne.”
The moodily-toned board still resembles the familiar Monopoly board with Castle Black, Winterfell and King’s Landing as properties up for grabs. The traditional hotels and houses are replaced with keeps and villages. And the playable tokens receive the Game of Thrones magic too: you can play as a Dragon Egg, a Three-Eyed Raven, a Direwolf, a Crown, a White Walker and as The Iron Throne itself.
Classic Monopoly games usually have an age rating of 8+ years. With an age rating of 18+ that hints towards more mature content, there may be more than meets the eye to how closely gameplay of this edition is mapped to the books and the TV series.
The Game of Thrones edition of Monopoly is set for release sometime this year.
